Good morning from Kenya! I embarked on a journey that started with a decision to take four times the advised dosage of melatonin from JFK to Kenya. The result was an unexpected 11-hour nap on my 15-hour flight, leaving me feeling both refreshed and disoriented upon arrival in Kenya.
Upon landing, I encountered some unexpected barricades, but thankfully found refuge in a nice hotel instead of having to rough it out at the airport. However, my restful slumber was short-lived as I woke up in the middle of the night with a pounding migraine that has kept me up ever since.
Despite the sleepless night, I took the opportunity to listen to some great podcasts, reflect on my journey so far, and connect with Aunt Manny, who has been a source of comfort and support. As I prepare to head to the airport for my final leg to Tanzania, where I will begin my climb on the 29th and aim to reach the summit on the third, I am filled with a mix of excitement and nerves.
I am grateful for the love and encouragement from my family and friends as I embark on this challenging adventure. As I set out for Tanzania, I ask for protection and safety for myself and my fellow climbers. Stay tuned for more updates from the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro!
